Candy Making History!

Once upon a time, kids ate simple candy and were satisfied. As time passed, they realized they wanted more. More action, more flavor, MORE FUN FOR YOUR TONGUE!

SpinPop was invented by four Postal Service employees, Bill, Ann, Ann, Tom (B.A.A.T. Enterprises, Inc.) in 1990. The SpinPop came about one snowy day while delivering mail. The mail car got stuck in a snowbank with one tire spinning on a patch of ice and this sparked an idea of a spinning lollipop. Thus, the SpinPop was born.

They introduced the SpinPop to CAP Toys in 1991, and CAP took one look at how stagnant the industry had become and decided to sweeten the pot.

After seeing The SpinPop concept, CAP Toys put a new spin on a traditional candy with the introduction of the world’s first and only spinning lollipop. The SpinPop revolutionized the candy industry and single-handedly created the interactive candy category. As quoted from the Success magazine, “the effects and results of their invention would truly bring together the innovation driven toy industry and ultraconservative candy makers.”

The SpinPop was introduced at the Los Angeles AMWA Candy Show in February 1993 and was a big hit and went on to sell in stores all around the world.

This year, 2023, celebrates the 30th anniversary of the SpinPop brand. With more than 100 million SpinPop lollipops sold, what began as a novelty item has become a pop culture phenomenon!

Today, The SpinPop continues to whirl and twirl in the hands of kids, candy lovers and collectors everywhere. Moms and Dads from coast-to-coast indulged their kids with these fun spinning lollipops. The Wholesaler magazine quoted “the immediate success added fun to a burgeoning, new category – interactive toy candy!”

After 30 years, The SpinPop is still spinning and is on track to be bigger than ever with the help of Top Secret Toys.
